Browser Recommendations
UT EID Minimum Browser Requirements
The UT EID System requires a standards-compliant web browser with support for SSL 3.0
and with Javascript (1.4 or higher) and Cookies enabled. We strongly recommend that
you use current generation browsers whenever possible.
Scholarship Application Recommendations
This OSFS on-line scholarship application meets the minimum
UT EID browser requirements described above. We recommend using one of the following
browsers to complete your application:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher for Windows
- Firefox 1.05 or higher
- Mozilla 1.7 or higher
- Safari 1.2 or higher for Macintosh
- Netscape (any version)*
- Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh (any version)**
*Since use of Netscape has decreased considerably and the commitment to continued
maintenance is uncertain, it is no longer one of the recommended browsers for
UT Austin web sites. It is also, no longer being included in the Bevoware software
bundle. Given this, and the fact that there are viable alternatives, we recommend
using one of the preferred browsers above instead of Netscape.
**Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh is no longer supported by Microsoft and is no longer one of the recommended browsers for University of Texas at Austin web sites. We recommend Macintosh users use either Safari or Firefox.
