Applying for Scholarships Checklist
- Complete the Continuing
& Transfer Scholarship Application by the posted deadline, normally April 1.
Exceptions:
If applying for School of Nursing Scholarships: February 1
If nominated for Unrestricted Endowed Presidential Scholarships: February 15
If applying for Texas Exes Scholarships: March 1 - Contact your prospective academic department to learn about its scholarship opportunities and application procedures.
- Complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to assist in the
consideration process. Most institutional scholarships are merit-based,
but some also consider socioeconomic disadvantages or financial need,
as derived from the FAFSA.
To be considered for the full range of scholarships offered through the Office of Student Financial Services, students MUST complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is available beginning January 1, and the priority deadline for Fall attendees is March 31.

Don't forget to check with your High School Counselor about
local scholarship opportunities. A large percentage of entering
freshmen receive scholarships from organizations within their
hometown. In some cases, applications for these awards are made
available only to the high school counselors.
