President's Achievement Scholarship
The President's Achievement Scholarship (PAS) is designed to recognize Texas high school scholars from low and middle-income households who perform at a high academic level. There are three types of President's Achievement Scholarships, each of which is awarded for up to four years:
  • Exemplary President's Achievement Scholarship ........................... $15,000/year
  • Distinguished President's Achievement Scholarship ....................... $10,000/year
  • President's Achievement Scholarship ............................................. $5,000/year
How Students and the State Benefit
The President's Achievement Scholarship helps students cope with rigorous college courses by relieving them of the pressures associated with borrowing and working too much in order to earn their degrees.
In addition, students chosen to be President's Achievement Scholars will receive a $1,500 supplement to encourage experiential learning. These funds may be used at any time while attending UT Austin in support of research, internship, or study abroad opportunities.
The first PAS awards were made to students in 1997. Since then more than 1,000 Texas resident undergraduates have received these awards. The PAS program works to enhance socioeconomic and ethnic diversity at UT Austin and throughout Texas by making it possible for needy and deserving students to enroll at UT Austin.
